Straddling the Line Between Attorney Misconduct & Free Speech
12:05 – 12:55 p.m. (50 minutes – Panel - Part 1)presented by Tyson C. Langhofer, Shawn S. Leisinger, Stephen R. McAllister, Jack Scott McInteer, and Suzanne Valdez  

The ABA has proposed amending Model Rule 8.4(g) to ensure that lawyers do not engage in misconduct directed toward various protected classes including race, sex, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.  This lunch-and-learn CLE on December 15, 2017, in Wichita, Kansas, will discuss proposed Rule 8.4(g), consider current model rules which already discipline attorneys who engage in harassing or discriminatory conduct, and address whether the proposed revision will suppress attorneys' First Amendment rights. The CLE will be in panel format.
