2017 - 2018 Membership Types and Dues

 

ACTIVE MEMBERS                                


Members of the judiciary and attorneys admitted to the practice of law in the State of Kansas or elsewhere and who are engaged in the legal or judicial profession in Sedgwick County, Kansas, shall be eligible for active membership with voting privileges.

 

1st - 2nd year admission to the bar (Admitted to the Bar 2016 – 2017) Annual Dues $50

4th - 5th year admission to the bar (Admitted to the Bar 2014 – 2015) Annual Dues $125

5 years or more admission to the bar (Admitted to the Bar 2013 or prior) Annual Dues $175

 

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS                                       

An otherwise qualified member of the judiciary or attorney who does not reside in the immediate vicinity of the Wichita metropolitan area and who is not actively engaged in the legal or judicial profession in Sedgwick County, Kansas, shall be eligible for associate membership (non-active, non-voting).

Annual Dues $75.00

INACTIVE STATUS MEMBERS                            

Any active or associate member of the Association who has voluntarily taken inactive status with the Kansas Supreme Court and is no longer actively engaged in the practice of law shall be eligible for Inactive Status Membership (non-active, non-voting).

Annual Dues $75.00

STUDENT MEMBERS                                            

Any person currently enrolled in law school and pursuing a J. D. degree or someone who has been granted a J. D. degree and has taken a bar exam within 12 months of becoming eligible to take a bar exam, shall be eligible for membership as a Student (non-active, non-voting) Member until bar examination results are received. *All WBA mailings will be sent electronically.

No Annual Dues

LIFE MEMBERS                                                     

Any active or associate member of the Association, age 75 or over, and any member previously granted the designation, shall be eligible for Life Membership (active, voting) in the Association, upon such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Board of Governors.

HONORARY MEMBERS                                       

Any person chosen by the Board of Governors may be eligible for Honorary Membership (non-active, non-voting) upon such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Board of Governors.

MENTORING PROGRAM                                     

The Wichita Bar Association offers a Mentoring Program. The goal of the Mentoring Program is to provide an opportunity for an attorney with certain skills and knowledge to act as a mentor and develop a relationship with an attorney who seeks those skills and knowledge. The mentor's role is to provide general advice, assistance and wisdom to the protégé attorney. As an added bonus, protégés in the Mentoring Program are given a one year free membership in the Wichita Bar Association. Anyone wishing to participate may call the WBA office, 316/263-2251, ext. 102, for more information.

 

Note: Only Active and Life Members of the Association in good standing shall be entitled to vote or hold office.
