Continuing Education Program Director - Wichita Bar Association - Posted May 18, 2020

Position Summary:  The Continuing Education Program Director is responsible for the administrative oversight of the continuing legal education (CLE) activities provided by the Wichita Bar Association (WBA), an association for attorneys in the South-Central Kansas Region.  The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the WBA.  This position manages the (CLE) credit offerings for the association including accreditation requirements, pre-conference planning, marketing, on-site support, post-conference documentation and strong customer service skills to WBA members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  Works with the Continuing Legal Education Committee to act upon the committee’s instructions and recommendations to plan, organize, facilitate and complete both live and video replay seminars for attorneys to receive CLE accreditation with the Kansas CLE Commission.  Works with each practice committee chair to set CLE program agenda, apply to CLE Commission for accreditation, communicate with faculty members, execute marketing materials, manage vendors, setup online registration, finalize seminar handbook, coordinate conference room setup and A/V equipment, attention to detail that will influence the seminar’s success and provide a great learning experience for attendees, track income and expenses, prepare reports for CLE Committee and Executive Director.  Organize and maintain all documentation required by the Kansas CLE Commission and the WBA’s document retention policy.  Remain up to date on CLE accreditation criteria, standards and statute requirements.  Ability to balance, plan and manage workflow to meet multiple seminar program deadlines.  Act as a liaison to the Summer Intern Program Committee and other WBA committees, as assigned, to help each committee further its goals.  Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and function as an effective team member.

Other Duties as Assigned:  Assists with a variety of association-wide projects; and accepts delegated tasks readily and completes assigned duties as directed.

Minimum Requirements:  Shall have completed a level of education commensurate with a high school degree and a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.  An Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; should have 2-3 years’ experience of event organization with attention to detail; and should have 2-3 years’ experience of basic financial and event record keeping.

Required Abilities:  Thorough knowledge of Windows on a PC platform, as well as Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Publisher (or equivalent); excellent communication skills, both written and oral; superior writing and editing capabilities; ability to use technology to work efficiently and effectively; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and convey a professional and positive image at all times that reflects favorably on the WBA.

Extra Credit for the Following Abilities:  A plus would be to have familiarity with current marketing trends; a bonus would be familiarity with online or on-demand training; and an advantage would be ability to identify alternative models for implementing educational opportunities and deliverables in accordance with CLE Commission requirements; and familiarity with website HTML design.

Physical Requirements:  The work is primarily sedentary in nature.  However, seminar days may last from 10-12 hours with frequent walking, standing and moving lightweight furniture.  This is especially typical during the last three months of the CLE compliance period (April – June).  Must have use of hands and vision for office equipment such as computers; talk or hear; moderate telephone usage.  Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Location:  One location – Wichita, Kansas

Schedule:  Monday to Friday (some early mornings on days of seminars)
